Police arrested six people, including four women, suspecting them of having links with a militant organisation, from the police line area of the district town Monday afternoon, according to a UNB report.
The arrestees - Sonia, 24, Arifa, 26, Zahanara, 50, Zahanara, 42, Noore Alam, 22, and Anisuzzaman, 40 - hail from different places of Meherpur and Jhenaidah district.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Sharmin of Jessore Kotwali Model police station said being tipped-off by local people, a team of police conducted a drive in the area in the afternoon and arrested the six while they were holding a clandestine meeting in a house.
Police also recovered books and papers from their possession, added Sharmin.
