Four people have been arrested by the law enforcers over illegal storage of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) products in Nawabganj Bazar in the capital.
In a raid conducted by the joint forces of the army and police, a large amount of TCB products was seized on Sunday night.
Acting on a tip-off, the 46th Independent Brigade of the army and Lalbagh police conducted the operation at 9pm on Sunday in Nawabganj Bazar, Lalbagh police station, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
During a search of Mohammad Shukur Ali Akond’s storage, authorities found 650 bottles of soybean oil and 1,340kg of lentils, valued at approximately Tk329,000.
Two businessmen, Shah Alam and Arif Hossain, were apprehended, while two other suspects were detained for questioning.
In preliminary questioning, the detained individuals admitted to their involvement in the illegal activities.
They have been handed over to Lalbagh Police Station for legal proceedings.
The ISPR said that the army’s firm stance against terrorism and efforts to improve law and order will continue.
