3 Bangladeshi women detained while attempting illegal entry into India

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained three Bangladeshi women on Tuesday while they were attempting to illegally enter India through the Sylhet border.

The arrests were made in the Ranirghat area of Gowainghat upazila, Sylhet.

The detained women are identified as Manjushree, 38, wife of Binoy Dutta from Sreepur, Magura, her daughter Dighi Jowaddar, 14, and Hira Biswas, 18, wife of Sukesh Biswas from Shalikha.

According to BGB, the three women were being trafficked by Rupan Sarkar, 22, a resident of Maturtol Bazar in Gowainghat.

Sarkar was trying to smuggle them into India through a point located 300 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 1272/5-S, under the jurisdiction of Sangram BOP of the 48th BGB Battalion.

The BGB patrol team detained the women, but Rupan Sarkar managed to escape.

The detained individuals are currently being processed for legal action, with plans underway to file a case and transfer them to Gowainghat Police Station for further proceedings.

Confirming the matter, Gowainghat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarkar Tofael Ahmed said that the BGB had just brought the detainees to the station.
