4 beaten to death in one day in Dhaka

In separate incidents, four people were beaten to death at different places in Dhaka on Wednesday. 

The deceased are Said Arafat Sharif, 20, Saidul Islam Yasin, 19, Al-Amin Bhuiya, 42 and Nurul Amin, 35. 

The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.

Among the deceased, two were accused of rape, and the other two victims, Al-Amin Bhuiya and Nurul Amin, were brothers. 

The family alleges that these two brothers were killed due to a dispute over the sale of a flat. Among them, elder borther Al-Amin bhuiya was a BNP leader. 

On the other hand, Said Arafat Sharif and Saidul Islam Yasin were beaten to death on allegations of rape. It is known that they had been working as volunteers at various places in the capital for the last few days.

Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctors declared them dead.

Samrat Sheikh, a scout member who brought Said and Yasin to the hospital, said: “The victims were taken to Jatrabari police station around 8:30am. Then it was known that they were physically tortured in a hotel in the Saidabad area.”

“They were brought to the hospital after their condition deteriorated. The doctor examined them and declared them dead.”

Yasin's mother, Shilpi Akhter, said: "He had been volunteering at different places for 15 days. On Tuesday morning, Yasin left his house in Dhalpur Bowbazar of Jatrabari. Since then, he has spoken to his mother on the phone several times."

He spoke to his mother on the phone around 4am on Wednesday. He told his mother that he was still healthy. 

Then in the morning, someone called his mother and told her that her son's condition was not good, to come to Jatrabari police station quickly. He immediately went to the police station and found his son dying.

She said: "My son was able to speak when he was taken from the police station to the hospital in the car. They said they were beaten on false charges. They did not commit any crime. ”

Yasin was reportedly studying at a madrasa.

The deceased Said's father is Kabir Hossain, and his mother is Mariam. They live in Kadmirchar village of Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj. 

They currently live in the Toni Tower area of Jatrabari.

Regarding this, Bachchu Mia, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, said: "The two young men who were victims of mob beating were brought to DMCH. Later, the doctor declared them dead. We have learned that they were lynched due to allegations of rape."

On the other hand, on Wednesday morning in the Wari Hatkhola area, there was an allegation of Al-Amin Bhuiya being beaten to death due to a dispute over a flat sale. 

A few hours later, his brother Nurul Amin was also killed.

They are the sons of the late Shamsuddin.

Al-Amin Bhuiya's wife, Munmun, said: "About 1.5 years ago, we bought a flat from a businessman named Ripon for almost Tk1.5 crore. Although the flat was ready, it was not being handed over. We had ongoing disputes with them about this. Due to this dispute, Ripon and his men killed my husband."

Bachchu Mia said: "Relatives brought Al-Amin Bhuiya to DMCH in critical condition. After examination, the doctor declared him dead. His body has been kept in the hospital morgue."

A few hours later, Nurul Amin was brought to DMCH by his brother-in-law, Jobayer Hossain. After examination, the doctor also declared him dead.

Nurul Amin lives with his family in Bansherpool area of Demra Staff Quarters. He was a ride-sharing driver.

Jobayer Hossain said: "Nurul Amin left home this morning. On receiving the news, I rescued him from Hatkhola area and brought him to the hospital."

The family alleged that the two brothers were beaten to death by the same men.
