48 bhori of gold found buried in cowshed in Munshiganj

Police have recovered 48 bhori of gold, 11 days after it was looted from a businessman after abduction  from Singair in Manikganj. 

A total of 95 bhori of gold were looted from him. The gold was recovered from Munshiganj on Wednesday.

Earlier, the police arrested a man named Siddique Sheikh, 50, from the Kuchiamora Toll Plaza in Munshiganj in connection with the gold recovery. 

Following his information, Shah Alam Mia, 48, was also arrested. 

Shah Alam revealed that 48 bhori of the looted gold were buried in his cowshed. 

Manikganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Golam Azad Khan shared this information in a press briefing on Thursday.

On the morning of June 1, robbers abducted a gold trader from Nawabganj and his three companions, along with 95 bhoris of gold, from Amtala village in Jamsha Union, Singair. 

They were forcibly taken in a microbus bearing a RAB sticker. Locals intercepted the vehicle in the Golaidanga area and handed over five members of the gang to the police after a mass beating.

The victimized businessman, Suman Haldar, filed a case regarding the incident that night.

Singair Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziarul Islam said that four individuals, Samrat, Mirajul, Amij, and Shamimuzzaman had already been shown arrested in the case. 

Among them, Shamimuzzaman is an army member who served as a Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) at RAB-1 Gazipur Training Centre. 

He was the ringleader behind the gold robbery, he added.

In this case, Samrat Mridha, Amij Uddin, and Mirajul Sheikh have already confessed their crimes in court. Since the main planner is a member of the armed forces, he has been handed over to his respective department.
