‘Oishee shows signs of remorse’

Oishee Rahman, daughter of Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman, showed signs of repentance over the “killing” of her parents, blaming bad company and drugs for the fallout, claimed DB officials.

During the four-day remand, Oishee told investigators: “I lost my humanity by taking too much drugs, and as a result I have lost my parents.”

One of the investigators said at the beginning of the remand, Oishee would give different comments and show excitements over drugs. She seemed not to realise that her parents were dead.

However, in the last couple of days, she became impatient and started crying for her parents during interrogation. She said her mothers’ strictness and supply of drugs from friend Jony and his wife, Irin, pushed my life in a different way.

Oishee said: “Irin would even manage to supply drugs when my parents would keep me locked in the house for drug abuse. At that time, I was thinking that if I could to move my parents from my way, my life would be happier.”

DB officials said they were anxious about Oishee and her behavior that he might attempt to commit suicide during remands. For that reason, four female police officials always accompany her during interrogations.

Meanwhile, officials of SB and DB, visited Oishee’s Chamelibagh residence at 11.30pm on Wednesday to verify her comments given during the remand where she gave detail accounts of the day of the murder, how she gave shelter to her friends, and how the killing took place.

An Additional Deputy Inspector General of SB, a Deputy Commissioner of DB and Additional Deputy Commissioner of DB were present during visit.

In addition, DB police Thurday claimed that they have got hold of the register of the clinic in Khulna, where Oishee was born.

According to the register, she was born on August 17, 1994, however, her school certificate notes that was born on August 17, 1996. DB also claimed that during the time of surrender, Oishee claimed herself to be 18.

In this regard, Jahangir Hossain Matubbor, Deputy Commissioner of DB said: “There has been a confusion over Oishee’s actual age and it will only be clear after we get the report from Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s medical board.”

Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has rejected a bail petition for Oishee by her lawyer Prokash Ranjan Bishwash, which was filed Wednesday to stop the disclosure of remand information to the media. He claimed the information would create a social stigma for his client. Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur rejected the plea.

The two other friends of Oishee, Jony and Sahidul are still at large and detectives said the total mystery of the case will be solved once they are arrested.

In this regard, Moinrul Islam, Joint Commissioner of DB said they are in search of the duo and were hoping to solve the case shortly.
