Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested key accused Mamunur Rashid Mamun and his associate Md Murad Hossain Murad in connection with the rape incident inside the campus of Jahangirnagar University.
The arrestee Mamunur Rashid Mamun is an outsider while Murad is a student of 44th batch of the Department of International Relations of the university.
A team of RAB arrested Mamun from Farmgate area on Wednesday evening while Murad from Naogaon.
Al Amin, assistant superintendent of the Legal and Media branch of RAB, confirmed the matter.
A woman was violated in the adjacent area of the hall at around 9pm on Saturday.
Mustafizur Rahman, a student of the 45th batch of the International Relations Department of the university, and a man named Mamun, 45, have been accused of raping a woman after locking her husband at the university’s Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall.
A case has been filed in this regard in the Ashulia police station.
Earlier, police arrested four people, including Mustafizur, over the incident.
