Bullet-hit body recovered in Jhenaidah

A bullet-hit body of a youth, allegedly involved with an extremist group, was recovered from a jute field at Chanderpole village under Ganna union parishad of Jhenaidah sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mafizul Haque, 30, son of Siddikur Rahman of Bishoykhali-Haripur village under the upazila.

Locals said Mafizul had been missing for the last four days from his residence at Kaliganj upazila township.

He was involved with an extremist group called Sramajibi Mukti Andolon, police said.

However, Mafiz’s father, who belonged to an extremist group too, was killed by rival groups nearly 15 years back, police said.

The duty officer of Jhenaidah sadar police station Rashida Khatun said police recovered the body from a jute field after being informed by the locals.

There were a number of bullet wounds on his body, she said.

The body was sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with the Jhenidah sadar police station in connection.

Police suspects he may have been killed over internal feuds.
