A High Court vacation bench Monday denied to hear the petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission seeking cancellation of Hall-Mark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam’s bail in all the 11 money laundering cases.
“Despite my appeal, the bench of Justice M Moazzam Husain and Justice Kashifa Hossain expressed its unwillingness to hear the matter,” ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan told the Dhaka Tribune.
He said the anti-graft body would place the 11 petitions before another vacation bench which had the jurisdiction to consider the matter.
A lower court, on August 4, gave bail to Jasmine on condition of repaying Tk1b every month.
ACC in its petitions said the bail was inappropriate as the investigation against Jasmine was going on. Earlier, a High Court bench refused to hear a petition filed by the Hall-Mark chair seeking annulment of bail condition.
