RAB withdrew during an operation to arrest Adam Tamizi Haque, managing director of Haque Group of Industries, over charges involving a criminal case and the Digital Security Act in Gulshan of the capital, as he threatened to commit suicide.
Earlier, a raid was conducted at Adam Tamizi's house at Gulshan Thursday night.
An official from RAB reported that when RAB members entered Adam Tamizi's residence and engaged in conversation with him, he made a suicide threat. In response to the tense situation, RAB members decided to withdraw.
Adam Tamizi Haque returned to Bangladesh on Monday. He announced his arrival in a post on his verified Facebook page.
In September, he took to Facebook to announce that a state minister from Gazipur was attempting to seize his business, compelling him to return to Bangladesh from overseas to safeguard his enterprise.
He then conducted a series of Facebook Live sessions, during which he controversially burnt his passport and made disparaging remarks about women in leadership, the Awami League, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In response to his actions, he was swiftly relieved of his party position, and the Dhaka City North Awami League suspended him.
