Miscreants threw bombs at the house of a local Awami League leader at Shibannagar village under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district Thursday night.
Police said a gang of unidentified miscreants riding two motorcycles hurled three bombs at the bedroom of Abdul Karim, president of ward-9 unit Awami League in Karpashdanga union, around 10:30pm while he was sleeping.
The attackers also tried to break the door and windows of the house.
Police from Karpashdanga camp and Damurhuda Police Station visited the spot.
Abdul Karim said a group had been demanding Tk500,000 from him for the last three months and that they may have carried out the attack because of his refusal to comply.
Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station, confirmed the incident saying a drive was being conducted to nab the culprits.
