5 kidnapped Teletalk staff rescued in Khagrachhari

Five staff members of a Teletalk contractor, who were kidnapped from Rangamati 17 days ago, were rescued from Merong area in Dighinala upazila of the Khagrachhari early Friday, reports UNB.

Police, Rab and BGB members cordoned off the area at night and rescued the kidnapped staff of B-Technology, a contracting firm of Teletalk, around 4am, police said.

The rescued staff members are: assistant engineer Akhtaruzzaman, supervisors Sujauddin and Mujibur Rahman and technicians Imrun Hossain and Hemayet Hossain.

Officials of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence took the rescued to Rangamati.

On July 8, six staff members of the firm were abducted when they were returning after repairing a mobile tower at Marishya Ghat in Rangamati’s Baghaichari upazila.

One of them, Montu Chakma was, however, released that night.
