RAB: Pirate leader killed in gunfight

The victim has been identified as Abul Kalam alias Langra Kalam. RAB claimed that he was the leader of the pirate group "Kalam Bahini". He was also on Home Ministry's list of terrorists.
Lt Colonel Miftah Uddin Ahmed, captain of RAB 7, confirmed the details to the Bangla Tribune.
He said: "After receiving a tip that a group of armed terrorists were at the Pologround field, a patrol team from RAB went to investigate at around 3 am. Upon seeing the RAB officers, the terrorists, including Kalam, opened fire. Another RAB group went to the spot after receiving the news, resulting in the exchange of gunfire between the two groups. The terrorists then escaped after jumping over the walls. We found an injured they left behind. When he was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, the doctors declared him dead."
"We found a 6.69 bore pistol on Kalam, and an AK-22 rifle from his bag," Lt Col Miftah added.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost incharge Jahirul Islam said: "After Kalam was brought in early in the morning, the incharge doctor declared him dead. The body is currently in the morgue."
