Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Saturday said Bangladesh Police is communicating continuously with Interpol and Dubai Police about fugitive accused Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan
He said this in response to questions from journalists after a program of the Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
He said Interpol has issued a Red Notice for Aarav Khan.
Aarav Khan is an Indian citizen and travelled to Dubai using an Indian passport. When asked if there is any obstacle to bringing him back, the IGP said: "We are working in this regard."
In response to a question about rumours that Dubai Police has arrested Arav Khan, the IGP further said: "I do not have any information about his arrest or detention."
Arav Khan, owner of Dubai's Arav Jewellers, is the 63rd Bangladeshi to be on Interpol's wanted list following a Red Notice issued by the organization.
Earlier, Bangladesh Police sent a letter to Interpol to bring back Arav Khan, who is an accused in the murder case of police inspector Mamun Imran Khan.
Arav Khan is currently using an Indian passport and has obtained a Dubai resident card.
Related documents have been sent to Interpol regarding his involvement in the murder of inspector Mamun.
