Police have arrested a doctor from Damudya upazila of Shariatpur district following a child’s death allegedly due to wrong treatment.
Imran, 2, son of Shohrab Madhob from the upazila, had been suffering from a tumour for a long time.
On Monday noon, Imran was taken to the village doctor Dipak Mondol following his poor physical condition. As soon as the doctor injected the boy three times, the boy lost consciousness.
Later, the child’s family members took him to Damudya Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Imran’s aunt Rabeya said: “The doctor gave him injections three times, and that made him unconscious. Later, when we took him to Damudya hospital, the doctors declared him dead,” according to banglanews24.
Child’s father Shohrab said “The doctor killed my child. I want hard punishment for him.”
Sobahan Dhali, child’s grandmother said: “We took our child to the doctor for better treatment but he killed him.”
Officer-in-Charge of Damudya police station Abdul Quader Bhuiyan said the doctor had been detained due to the child’s death allegedly from being given the wrong treatment.
Later, Imran’s father filed a case in this regard in the police station, he said. The body was sent to Sariatpur Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
