2 policemen arrested with phensidyl in Lalmonirhat

The Department of Narcotics Control has arrested two police constables along with 77 bottles of phensidyl in Kulaghat union's Tiktikir Bazar area in Lalmonirhat.

The arrestees are Harun-or-Rashid, 27, of Rajarbagh police lines and Mehedi Hasan, 25, of Rangpur police lines. They are residents of Panchagarh and Rangpur, respectively.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the department conducted a drive early on Friday and arrested the duo with the phensidyl bottles, said Helal Uddin, an inspector at the DNC.

A car was also seized during the drive, but its driver managed to flee the area.

Later, the arrested constables were turned over to Lalmonirhat police after a case was filed against them, including the car driver.

Earshadul Alam, officer-in-charge of the police station, said a Lalmonirhat court had ordered the two constables to be sent to jail.
