Assailants hacked an Awami League leader to death in Daldali union under Bholahat upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Durul Hoda, Daldali union Awami League president.
Witnesses said that some assailants swooped on him and hacked him while he was taking tea at a local stall in Musurivuja Bazar area, leaving him critically injured.
On information, police rushed in and took him to hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Bholahat thana officer-in-charge Farhad said: “The body was sent to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
