The acting principal of Dhaka College, ATM Moinul Hossain, has said that law enforcers entered the college premises on Sunday evening after taking necessary permission from the college authorities.
They came to detain a Chhatra League leader involved in New Market clashes. He was later released after questioning, Moinul said on Monday.
He categorically said that it was not a raid on the campus.
Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police and RAB entered the campus on Sunday evening and detained Chhatra League leader Zahir Hasan alias Jewel from Room No 101 of the International Hall. They also seized two mobile phones from Zahir’s possession.
Bashar Emon, a suspect in the murder of delivery person Nahid Hossain during the clashes on April 19, used to share the same room with Zahir.
