A group of miscreants chopped a police official at Gafargoan Railway Station on Friday night.The victim was Monwar Hossain, a sub-inspector of Government Railway Police (GRP), Mymensingh.
Abdus Sattar, officer-in-charge of GRP Mymansingh said Monwar Hossain was the investigation officer of a case filed against Jammat-Shibir men for torching a compartment of Mymensingh bound Brahmaputra intercity train at Gafargoan Railway Station on March 7.
Monwar was about to enter into Mymensingh bound Jamuna intercity train after investigation at about 8pm and got involved in an altercation with the miscreants.
Later the miscreants took him away from the train and chopped him indiscriminately. Hearing the scream of the SI, local people rushed to the spot, rescued him and took him to Gafargoan Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
Later he was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital [MMCH] where is undergoing treatment now.
Police visited the spot and arrested four suspects, said the OC.
