Bandarban monastery comes under attack

According to local sources, a gang of miscreants wearing masks attacked Dhabankhali monastery located at Baisari union parishad around 11pm. Local people rushed to spot, as monastery residents informed locals about the attack of the miscreants. Sensing the presence of local people, the miscreants fled away from the scene. Principal of the monastery Taionommar told the Dhaka Tribune that some windows glasses were vandalised during the attack. However, no one was injured in the attack. Officer-in-Charge of Baisari police outpost said security had been beefed up in the area after the attack. On May 13, unidentified assailants murdered a 70-year-old Buddhist monk Mong Shu You at his monastery in Chakpara of Bandarban's Naikkhanchhari upazila. One June 30, a local Awami League leader was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at the same upzila.
