Pregnant woman raped in Comilla

A case has been filed against two men over the rape of a five-months pregnant woman in Comilla.

The rape survivor underwent a medical examination at Comilla Medical College Hospital and testified in court on Wednesday, Investigation officer of the case and Brahmanpara police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain said.

The accused have been identified as Khandoker Faruk and Sohag.

According to the case statement, the victim is married and the couple have a 2-year-old son together. Accused Faruq, 32, from Saichapara village, befriended the survivor through mobile phone conversations over several months. 

On March 21, the survivor was taken to Faruk's rented house in Brahmanpara of the district with the help of CNG driver Sohag, son of Farid Miah of the same area. 

Faruq raped the woman and fled the scene. The next day, Sohag took the survivor to her village home. 

When her family members came to know about the matter, they took her to Debidar Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment. 

On Tuesday night, the victim’s father filed a case against the two accused with Brahmanpara police station. 

Attempts to arrest the accused are ongoing, police said.
