2 girls raped in Savar by DB informer after responding to calls to become models

Two young girls have allegedly been raped by a Detective Branch (DB) informer and his associates in Dhaka's Savar upazila after being called up on promise that they will get the scope of becoming models. The victims alleged that Liton Ali Mondol, an informer of the DB, and some of his associates raped them at gunpoint at Legend College, which is adjacent to Savar DB Office at Sobhanbagh Moholla in Savar municipal area, on Thursday evening. Liton, who became acquainted with the girls in Konabari area of Gazipur district about three months back, allegedly called them up over phone to visit him at Savar by promising to make them models. Around 9:30pm, Liton and his associates took the girls to Legend College and held them hostage at gunpoint. The rapists confined the victims in an office room and raped them till midnight one after another, according to the relatives of the victims. Hearing screams, locals broke into the college building and rescued the girls. Liton and his associates, however, managed to flee from the scene. Police went to the scene later and took charge of the victims. DB North Officer-in-Charge AFM Sayed said they had already detained two security guards of the building. A case is to be filed with Savar Model police station in this connection. The rescued victims would be sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical treatment, added the OC.
