‘No sign of physical assault on birthday party rape victim’s body’

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) forensic department head Dr Sohel Mahmud has confirmed that they did not find any sign of physical assault on the body of the girl who was allegedly raped at a birthday party in Banani. He made the statement while talking to the journalists at the hospital around Thursday morning. When asked about injury marks, he said: “The girl told us that she had been physically assaulted but we did not find any such signs. “There was no injury mark on her body.” Earlier in the day, a five-member medical board comprising of Dr Sohel Mahmud, Dr Pradip Biswas, Dr Momtaz Ara, Dr Rezwana Sharmin and Dr Kabir Sohel conducted medical tests of the girl. Dr Sohel said: “She came to us within 36 hours of the incident. We are positive about finding some evidences if anything such [rape] took place.”

The medical board collected blood and urine samples to determine if she was given intoxicating substances before the rape, reports the Bangla Tribune. Dr Sohel said: “We will be able to give final opinion about the matter after analysing the physical findings with chemical, radiology and microbiology reports and we need at least three to four weeks for that.” A television actress was allegedly raped by her lover at a birthday party in the Dhaka’s Banani area on Tuesday. The victim filed a complaint with Banani police station a day after the incident.
