A murder case has been filed with Rupnagar police station on Wednesday in connection with the murder of highway police official ASP Mizanur by his younger brother Masum Talukdar.
Mizanur's body was found dumped near Birulia Bridge on the bank of the Turag River near Rupnagar in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka Wednesday morning.
Rupnagar police station OC Syed Shahid Alam said: “The plaintiff sued unknown miscreants for the killing on Wednesday night. Inspector (investigation) Akhterujjaman Elias has been given the responsibility of the case.”
Hailing from Alikhan village in Ghatail upazila of Tangail, Mizanur used to live in Uttara with his family. He joined the force in 1989 as a sub-inspector and was promoted as an ASP three years ago.
“Mizanur had no animosity with anybody. We are yet to unearth why he was murdered,” said his nephew Shamim Sheikh.
