Police arrested a man for reportedly raping a mother of two in Chiltola village of Swarupkathi upazila of Pirojpur.
The accused, Kishore Mandal, a member of village police, reportedly made promises to marry the woman and raped her on multiple occasions, the case statement says.
The woman, a mother of two, got pregnant and asked Kishore to marry her, said Nesarabad police station Officer-in-Charge Abir Mohammed Hossain.
When he declined to marry her, the woman filed a case against him under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Tuesday, added the OC.
The accused was arrested on Tuesday night and presented before a court on Wednesday, while the woman was sent to a hospital for necessary check-ups the same day, police sources confirmed.
