A man has been arrested for trying to rape his 13-year-old step-daughter in Netrakona district.
Police detained Rasel Mia, 32, from an area under Netrakona Model police station on Wednesday night.
Later, a case was filed and Rasel was sent to jail by a court on Thursday.
Netrakona Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Tajul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Rasel, from Manikganj district, married a woman in Netrakona nine years ago and started living there. The woman had a daughter from her previous marriage, said police and locals.
On Wednesday, Rasel tried to rape his step-daughter when her mother was not home. Locals rescued the girl when they heard her screaming. Later, police were informed and they detained Rasel.
The girl filed a case under Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act with the police station.
