Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told the House on Thursday that the government has engaged two law firms in the United States and Canada to extradite the convicted killers of Bangabandhu in hiding.
Minister Kamal said: "As part of the legal procedure to extradite the fugitive killers, we have taken the initiative to confiscate their non-movable properties and freeze their bank accounts" in response to a query from Treasury bench member M Shafiqul Islam, reports BSS.
He said the government formed a taskforce led by the minister of law, justice and parliamentary affairs on March 28, 2010 to facilitate the extradition.

After the government retained power in 2014, the taskforce was reformed. The taskforce has since been trying to locate the killers and inform Interpol.
At least two of the killers, Noor Chowdhury and Rashed Chowdhury, are confirmed to be hiding in Canada and the US respectively. Noor’s diplomatic condition is in a quagmire – he has neither been granted asylum nor sent back due to Canadian law preventing extradition of people on death row – while Rashed has been granted political asylum.
