Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that Salman An-Noor Hossain, a Canandian fugitive, did not enter Bangladesh legally.
However, he did not elaborate on what channel Salman may have used to enter Bangladesh.
He said that he was apprised of a Bangladesh-born person's involvement with hate crimes in Canada back in 2010.
The minister said the Canadian government never made any formal requests for Salman's extradition or arrest.

Minister Kamal said law enforcement agencies are aware of the matter and have Salman on their radar.
Salman, who is a Bangladeshi-born Canadian citizen, is wanted in Canada and on the red list of Interpol for advocating genocide and promoting hate crimes. He has been found to be living in Dhaka for the past seven years.
He is wanted for two counts of advocating genocide, the first in the history of Canada and three counts of promoting hatred, according to the National Post, a Canadian news outlet. If found guilty, he could be imprisoned for up to 16 years.
