CTTC raids suspected militant dens

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) raided a suspected militant hideout in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka on Friday evening. Confirming the raid, CTTC Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohibul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that neither anybody was detained, nor anything was seized from the scene. A CTTC team, on information, raided the house at a five-story building of one Anwar in Savar’s Genda area. However, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahbubur Rahman of Savar Model police station said they detained a woman and  rescued two children from the house in question. According to him, two male militants including one named Manir managed to escape  the raid. “Manir used to live in the house with the two militants, including the woman,” he said. Based on the information of the detainee, the CTTC started another raid in a six-storey building on suspicion of being a militant den, which is just 200 yards away from Anwar’s building. As of 10:40pm, the second raid was still underway with no initial reports of detention.
