Six abductors held in Keraniganj and Gazipur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued three abducted victims, including three-month-old Shin in separate drives at the Golam Bazar area in Keraniganj and Teknikpara, Gazipur. Six abductors were also arrested around the same time. “Shin’s family said a man named Sumon abducted their child on May 17 and called from a mobile phone, asking for Tk2 lakh ransom,” said  RAB 10 Commanding Officer (CO) Jahangir Hossain Matubbar. Later, a team of RAB 10 conducted a drive and arrested Sumon at 2pm on Thursday. “After interrogating Sumon, we rescued the child from a house in the Golam Bazar Habib Colony lane area,” he added. Sumon is a television and fridge mechanic. The victim’s family knew him through his work. Legal action will be taken against him. Meanwhile, RAB 1 Senior Assistant Director Muhit Kabir Sarniyabat said a RAB 1 team conducted a drive at Teknikpara area in Gazipur on Friday morning and rescued two victims named Mirajul Islam and Rakibul Islam. During the drive, RAB also arrested five abductors: Rabby Hasan Niloy, 22, Md Rakib, 20, Md Shakil Mollah, 21, Md Shohel Rana, 20, and Md Shohag, 23. RAB recovered a foreign pistol, two bullets, three knives, six mobile phones and a credit card from their possession. Sarniyabat also said Miraj and Rakibul were abducted from Gazipur’s Joydebpur area at around 7pm on Thursday. They were locked in a house in Teknikpara. Miraj managed to escape around 4am on Friday. He called RAB and a team immediately conducted a drive and rescued Rakibul and arrested 5 abductors. RAB said in the primary interrogation, the abductors admitted to the incident in both cases. Legal measures are being taken against them.
