RAB arrests 2 more New JMB members in Narayanganj

Rapid Action Battalion has arrested two suspected members of Sarwar-Tamim faction of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (New JMB) from Narayanganj city. The suspects – Abdur Rahman alias Sohel, 25, from Titas Upazila, and Faisal Ahmed, 44, from Daudkandi Upazila of Comilla – were arrested from Shiddhirganj area between Monday night and Tuesday morning, said a press release of RAB 11. Faisal was recruited by Jamal Russel Jihadi last year. He used to translate different radical materials from Arabic to Bangla. On the other hand, Sohel kept contact with more than one member of the Sarwar-Tamim group and took part in organisational meetings of the outfit in Narayanganj, where its military commander Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury was killed in a raid last year. RAB 11 Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shakil Ahmed said that they had arrested the duo based on information gleaned from eight other New JMB members during remands. The duo admitted in primary interrogation that they were members of the New JMB group, he added. The eight New JMB members were held from Narayanganj and Comilla during drives on April 6-7.
