The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved charge-sheet against BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and two others for allegedly embezzling Tk49,07,808 from the national exchequer by misusing a World Bank fund.
The anti-graft watchdog gave a go-ahead to the charge-sheet against Mosharraf, his son Khanader Mahbub Hossain and Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) official Mahbubur Rahman on Sunday, confirmed ACC Public Relation Officer Pranab Kumer Bhattacharya on Tuesday.
Pranab also said they would press the charges to a court soon.
After a case had been filed against them with Gulshan police station on September 9, 2008, ACC Assistant Director Mostafizur Rahman probed it and prepared the charge-sheet.
Meanwhile, the BNP leader moved the High Court challenging the legality of the case, which it turned down. This apart, the ACC arrested Deputy Controller General of Accounts Dulal Uddin from Mymensingh ostensibly for amassing wealth illegally.
