The former wife of Bogra’s Gabtoli officer-in-charge ANM Abdullah Al Hassan has admitted during remand that she used to harass him constantly.
Rumana Akhter Mitu, 25, was arrested in a case filed by Hassan’s first wife for provoking him to commit suicide and placed on a five-day remand Friday.
Gabtoli police OC (investigation) Md Nuruzzaman on Saturday hoped that she would give confessional statement after the interrogation.
“The accused told us that she used to harass OC Hassan over the phone and through other means after being divorced,” he told the Dhaka Tribune.
Mitu and her father Moksed Ali were picked up from their house in Shalgaria area of Pabna and brought to Bogra for interrogation. Moksed was later sent to jail via court.
Hassan used to live at the police quarters alone, while his first wife Sultana Razia Rosy and their children stayed in Rajshahi city.
He had married Mitu in 2015 without the consent of the first wife. He divorced Mitu on January 17 this year after Rosy learnt about the marriage but continued his relationship with her.
Mitu last met with Hassan at his house on March 11.
Hassan hanged himself from the ceiling fan at his house on Wednesday morning.
