Father of the two sons who were handed over to Kafrul police on Saturday evening said his religious sentiment and fear of losing sons compelled him to hand them over to the police.
Alamgir Hossain, a local cement trader, also the father of the two, said: “We live for our children and watching them going to the wrong path is the most regretful thing in life.”
The father handed over his two sons Deen Islam, 25, and Salman Sajid, 22, to Kafrul police suspecting their involvement with militant activities.
“I brought up my sons in a religious manner and also tried that they never get involved in any crime. I always supervised their daily schedule,” he added.
“Our religion says all my achievements will be questioned if I do not look after to my children properly. How will I face my Allah in the life after death if they get involved in crime? I am not leaving any stone unturned from my side,” he added.
The father claimed that despite sending the sons to police custody, he believes his sons are not involved in any militant activities.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB 10) team visited the house with local Ward Councilor Matiur Rahman through whom the father contacted local MP Kalam Ahmed Majumder.
The MP said that detecting a youth before they flee away from home seems effective to put them back to their normal life. This experience will never allow the children to get involved with such activities.
The report was brought to spotlight on March 21 after Rab called a press briefing on the arrest of five alleged New JMB members from Badda and Jatrabari area in Dhaka. Rab said one of Alamgir’s sons was involved with the gang.
