Two women among six abductors held

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained six members, including two women, of an alleged kidnapping gang from Dhaka’s Demra and Narayanganj’s Fatullah when conducting a drive following an abduction complaint.
The detainees are Md Salim,32, of Noakhali, Md Ismail, 23, of Chandpur, Md Mahbub Hawlader, 36, of Patuakhali, Md Shahidul Islam alias Sagor,27, of Mymensingh, Nila Begum,38, of Gazipur, and Sumaiya Akter Sumi alias Sathi, 20, of Barisal.
The six people, who were detained on Tuesday morning, were involved in the abduction of Anisur Rahman, the principal of Daricahr Khejuria Nesaria Fazil Madrasah at Mehediganj of Barisal, according to a RAB-11 press release.
Taking legal actions against them is underway, it said.
On March 13, the fifty-year-old man arrived in Dhaka for an official purpose and met Sumi, with whom he was previously acquainted.
He got abducted from Narayanganj’s Fatullah the same day after he had gone there with Sumi to visit her home.
On March 15, they dropped Anisur in the district’s Signboard area, after realising Tk1.36 lakh as ransom from his family, the press release said, adding that the abductors assaulted and took some obscene photos of him.
Anisur filed the complaint with the RAB-11 after he had been released.
