A male school student has been stabbed to death by his friends in Sylhet over an altercation following arguments among them.
The incident occurred in Housing State of Sylhet city around 8pm on Sunday.
The deceased, Sahed Ahmed, 16, was a student of grade 9 in British Bangladesh International School and College (BBIS), but he quit his studies a year back.
Police and witnesses said Sahed and four of his friends were having a chat in their meeting place in the Housing State area, when an argument ensued among them and someone stabbed him.
The injured Sahed ran towards the local ward councilor's office and dropped to the ground there. Later, he was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (Media and Communications) Zedan Al Musa told the Dhaka Tribune: "We are still looking for the culprit. Moreover, we believe the incident occurred over an argument among the friends when they were in their meeting place."
