An exchange of taunts between two child workers took a chilling turn as one of them caused another's death in a fit of rage.
According to laundry owner Mahin Hossain, both children worked at his shop. On Wednesday afternoon around 1pm, the two of them were trading insults and roughhousing as part of friendly jest, when the prepubescent boy slashed the teenager's neck with a cutting blade.
The 16-year-old was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
He has been identified as Sourov Hossain, brother-in-law of Mahin.
The 10-year-old has been arrested by Bangshal police, as confirmed by Officer-in-Charge Shahidur Rahman, who promised due legal actions will be pursued.
