Two housewives have been killed by their husbands in separate incidents in Cox's Bazar and Barisal.
In Cox's Bazar, Rozina Akhter, 28, was shot by her husband Md Shafi in the Pahartali area of Cox's Bazar town on Friday night.
Severely injured, Rozina was admitted to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, where she died on Saturday afternoon.
Cox's Bazar Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Farid Uddin confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.
Police have inspected the crime scene and sent the body to the morgue for autopsy, he said. "We suspect she was killed due to a domestic conflict."
In Barisal, housewife Salma Begum, 30, was strangled to death after being tortured by her husband in the Baherchar village under the Bara Jalia union inthe Hizla upazila of Barisal.
The murder occurred earlyon Sunday. Police arrested the husband, Shamim Sardar, SM Maksudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Hizla police station said.
During interrogation, Shamim confessed to committing the murder, the OC said.
‘’Salma was beaten and strangled by her husband, and later relatives admitted her to Hizla Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition on Sunday," Maksudur said. "There, the duty doctors declared her dead.
"We are suspecting Salma was killed due to an altercation that occurred over her suspicions regarding Shamim's extra-marital affair," he added.
The deceased's body has been sent to Barisal Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
A case is being prepared in this connection, the OC said.
