Babul questions allegations his in-laws brought against him

A day after Babul Akter’s in-laws alleged that his murdered wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was tortured by Babul's family and tried to commit suicide, the former police official lashed back at them with arguments and counter-allegations. Posting on his Facebook profile on Monday afternoon, Babul pointed out that his in-laws had previously made statements in the media attesting to his good marriage with Mitu. He also remarked that all of these allegations had suddenly emerged after he moved out of his in-laws' with his children. “Out of nowhere, they just now remembered that I had tortured, misbehaved with and neglected Mitu, forcing her to stay with my family with no other way left?” Babul asked.
Why did they tell reporters in Chittagong last month that they didn’t suspect me?
“Then why did they tell reporters in Chittagong last month that they didn't suspect me?” he continued. Babul said that he tolerated many inconveniences to himself and the children in the crowded and noisy environment at his in-laws' home in Banasree, but he had to move out after they tried to marry him off to Mitu's 16-year-old cousin. The former police officer, well-known for his anti-terrorism drives, said he was not bothered by any story being told and that his priority was the well-being of his children. Mitu, mother of two, was stabbed and shot dead death near her house by three motorbike riders in Chittagong city's GEC area on June 5, 2016 while waiting with her son Akter Mahmud Maheer for his school bus. Babul resigned following the murder which led to an investigation involving him. He recently took a job in a hospital in the capital and moved to a new home with his son and daughter.
