Two killed in Narayanganj ‘gunfight’

The deceased are Muktar Hossain alais Killer Muktar, 42, and his bodyguard Manik alias Killer Manik, 40. Muktar was a listed criminal and accused in many cases including murder. The “gunfight” took place around 6:45pm in Pagla Shahibazar area during an anti-narcotics drive. “A DB (Detective Branch) team came under attack of criminals during a drive in Pagla Shahibazar area. In retaliation, police opened fire for defence,” Fatulla Model police station officer-in-charge Kamal Uddin said when the Dhaka Tribune approached him for confirmation. “Muktar and Manik died and a police ASI suffered bullet injury during the gunfight,” the OC Kamal added. Two pistols and seven bullets were recovered from the spot.
