Farhad murder: DB police arrests 5 suspects in Dhaka

The Detective Branch of Police (North) has arrested five suspects from the Gulshan and Mirpur areas of Dhaka, in connection with the murder of Awami League Badda unit General Secretary Farhad Hossain.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune at a press conference, Abdul Baten, Joint Commissioner of DMP's Detective Branch (DB) added that the suspects were arrested last night in a drive. 

He added that the murder was committed to establish dominance in the area and resolve an ongoing dispute over the distribution of extortion money.

Four pistols,four magazines, and 12 bullets, were also seized from the suspects. 

On July 5 this year, two suspects of this murder were killed in a “shootout” with police in Dhaka,in the early hours of the day. The suspects were Nurul Islam Sunny, 28, and Amit alias Dada, 35.

Farhad Hossain was murdered in the capital on June 15. According to police sources, six shooters, and several criminal groups, worked jointly to carry out the assassination.
