Fugitive accused in Kibria murder case arrested

The arrestee, Abdul Jalil, hails from Maghmudpur village of Habiganj sadar upazila.
Habiganj Sadar police station OC Yasinul Haque has confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune that police detained Jalil from his residence in the morning.
Jalil was sent to jail after police produced him before Habiganj sadar court in the afternoon.
On January 27, 2005, five people, including Awami League-led government’s finance minister Shah AMS Kibria, were killed in a grenade attack carried out in a rally in Boidyer Bazar of Habiganj.
On November 13, 2014, police submitted a supplementary charge sheet against 35 people, including 11 new ones, in the Kibria murder case. The freshly-indicted accused included Ariful, Habiganj Mayor GK Gaus and Haris Chowdhury, former political adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
