Suspected robber killed in Rajshahi ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber has been killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion in Budhpara area of Rajshahi district.
The deceased is Kausar Ali, 40, son of Yasin Ali of Chapainawabganj district.
RAB 5 Company Commander Major AM Ashraful Islam said: “A team of RAB was patrolling in the area when a gang of robbers opened fire at them from a mango garden in the area around 2:45am on Sunday.”
In retaliation, the elite force members fired back that left Kausar injured. However, the others managed to flee the scene.
Later, he was declared dead when taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, a foreign-made pistol, four rounds of bullets, a amagazine, a knife and a locally made lethal weapon was recovered from the spot.
The RAB official said: “He is an accused in four cases, including murder, filed with Chapainawabganj sadar police station. He was the prime accused in all those cases."
