The yaba pills were seized in separate drives conducted by Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Teknaf upazila early on Saturday.
Coast Guard Chittagong East Zone Staff Officer (operation) Dickson Chowdhury said that their patrol had recovered 500,000 pieces of yaba.
“A boat coming from Myanmar tried to flee when a Coast Guard patrol signalled it to stop. The boat was later found abandoned near Naikkhyangdia channel of the Naf River with the yaba pills,” he said.
Two boats were seized after the incident.
Meanwhile, the BGB has seized 44,000 yaba pills and captured a boat in a separate drive in Teknaf’s Hecchakhal area.
Teknaf’s BGB Battalion 2 Commander Maj Abu Rasel Siddique confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
