'Outlaw' killed in Rajbari 'gunfight'

Moazzem Fakir, a member of Bipul Bahini, was killed in a “gunfight” early Friday, reported UNB. Pangsha OC Mofazzal Hossain said they detained Moazzem Thursday night. Later, police took Moazzem and conducted a drive at Maura Bongram village based on the information disclosed by the detainee during interrogation. Sensing the presence of police, Moazzem's cohorts opened fire at the law enforcers around 2:30am. In retaliation, police fired back which resulted in a “gunfight” that left Moazzem injured. The others however managed to flee the scene. Moazzem was taken to Panghsa Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead. Police recovered a shutter gun and a bullet during the drive. The OC said Moazzem was wanted in a number of cases, including murder.
