Woman's severed head recovered four days after disappearance

Police recovered the severed head of a woman, who went missing four days ago, from a lake in Berirchar area in Moulvibazar town on Wednesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Selina Begum, 50, wife of late Khaliq Miah from Kadamhata village in Rajnagar upazila. She was hawker of cloths, living in Dorgamohla area.
On Monday night, the law enforcers arrested one Junak Hossain, 28, in connection with the murder.
Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shah Jalal said a team of the district police had recovered the severed head of the deceased woman, wrapped in polythene sheet, from the lake based on the information gleaned from Junak, who was among five suspects detained in that connection.
The beheaded body of the deceased was recovered from the backyard of the residence of one Rehana Begum, who is currently living in London, around noon earlier on Saturday.
According to locals, the cloth vendor left her residence for Berirchar area on last Thursday to collect about Tk45,000 dues from some of her clients. It is unclear as yet if any of the accused were among her debtors.
