Senior citizen beaten to death for protesting loud music, 4 held

Two people have been remanded and two landed in jail over allegation of killing a senior citizen in Dhaka’s Wari as he protested loud music. The accused are – Zahid, Shazzad, Yasmin and Altaf. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Fahad Bin Amin Chowdhury passed the order on Saturday, confirmed general record officer of CMM court Sub-Inspector Ashraf. He said: “The court denied remand to Yasmin and Altaf as one of them is female and another is 70-year-old.” Police appealed for 10-day remand to the court. The victim Nazmul Haque, 65, was a retired government employee. He was beaten to death near his Ramkrishno lane residence for protesting loud music in a wedding ceremony on Friday.
