90 stolen laptops recovered by DB police

Between January 5 to January 7, the DB conducted raids at Mirpur's Darussalam, Paltan and Panthapath area and arrested the hijackers who have been involved in robbing laptops, announced Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at a press briefing on Sunday.

The arrestees are: Khalil Gazi, Abul Kalam, Emdadul Haque, Hasibur Rahman alias Shuvro, Monir Bepari and Mushfiqur Rahman.

Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten said the group members would hijack laptops and give them to Monir Bepari, the gang leader. Monir would then give to them to Shuvro, who would sell them to different people online. DB initially arrested three of the hijackers from Mirpur Stadium area and based on their statements, they arrested another gang member from Paltan area. Later, based on new information, DB raided a house in Darussalam area and recovered 56 stolen laptops and arrested Shuvro, he added. Based on the statements from Monir and the others, DB raided an electronic device shop at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex at Panthapath in Dhaka and recovered 34 stolen laptops and arrested Mushfiqur Rahman, said Abdul Baten. We received some more names from the arrestees and will try to make more arrests as soon as possible, Baten added.
