Ahsan Habibi Masud, a leader of Awami League’s Sundarganj Upazila and also a former vice-chairman of Upazila Parishad, was detained on Sunday morning.
Sundarganj OC Atiur Rahman confirmed the detention to the Dhaka Tribune.
With the detention of Ahsan, the number of suspects picked up by law enforcers rises to 53, including six members of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Unidentified assailants shot Liton at his home on December 31, 2016. He was pronounced dead at Rangpur Medical College Hospital after a couple of hours.
MP Liton’s younger sister Fahmida Bulbul Kakoli filed the murder case with Sundarganj police station the following day.
