A Khulna court has granted permanent bail to Shahjalal, a man from Khulna whose eyes were gouged out after an alleged mob lynching, in a case filed over a snatching incident.
Judge Arup Kumar Goswami of Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judges' Court granted the gave the order after a hearing Monday, confirmed Shahjalal's lawyer Mominul Islam.
Shahjalal along with his family members was present at the hearing.
The man was shown arrested in a case filed by one Suma Akhter over the attempted snatching of her vanity bag near Khalishpur’s Golakhali rail line on July 18.

He was caught by some bystanders while snatching the bag.
He underwent a mob lynching there before being handed over to police, and those who were involved in the beating are responsible for damaging his eyes, claimed police.
Shahjalal, on the contrary, alleged that he was tortured by the policemen inside and outside of the police station on the night of his arrest after he refused to pay them a bribe.
A departmental probe body has been formed to investigate the allegations of his tourture in police custody.
Shahjalal had been on a temporary bail, granted by a trial court.
